The ROSANNA Fund – Summer 2018 Newsletter

“We come from a generation of intellectuals and activists inspired by the women’s movement: we were carried by history. Now it is our turn to help the next generation of promising female scholars.” – Rosi Braidotti and Anneke Smelik

Dear ROSANNA Fund supporters, friends and contacts,

With this first newsletter, we want to update you about the ROSANNA Fund, and what it has achieved this year together with its Board members and supporters, and in cooperation with Utrecht University’s U-FundInclUUsion, and the Stichting voor Vluchteling-Studenten UAF.

On March the 8th the second ROSANNA Fund Award ceremony took place, as part of a larger International Women’s Day program co-organized with the Vrouwennetwerk Universiteit Utrecht. During the afternoon program, the audience was welcomed by Professor Rosi Braidotti, and listened to a lecture by Professor Anneke Smelik on “The Power of Fashion”. Short speeches were also given by Robbert Jan Feunekes (U-Fund), Marlise Mensink (ROSANNA Fund Board member), Elena Valbusa (InclUUsion), Hanneke de Zeeuw (UAF) and Feminer.

The three ROSANNA Fund 2018 Award winners – Laial Allaham, Matija Kajić, and Tagrid Ali Dinar (UAF candidate) – were then presented with their awards, while Rosi Braidotti delivered their individual laudatio. You can watch a video by Motimo Design of the ceremony here, and read a report on the International Women’s Day program in Pandora here.
