New Humanities. The Humanities in the 21st Century
20/11/2026
On Friday, November 20, Rosi Braidotti will give a keynote lecture ‘The Scramble for the New Human’ for a conference on the New Humanities in Bern, Switzerland. In her keynote address, Rosi Braidotti discusses the legacy of the humanities and the transdisciplinary convergences necessary for their renewal in the 21st century.
The conference ‘New Humanities. The Humanities in the 21st Century’ explores the contribution of the humanities to the production of knowledge that is relevant to our times, which are characterised by profound technological and climatic upheavals.
Humans are no longer at the centre of the narrative. The humanities are broadening their focus to include non-human entities and our shared planet, which human activity has thrown out of balance. This conference explores the contribution of the humanities to understanding these changes and envisioning desirable futures – both for these disciplines and for society.
