Dear ROSANNA Fund for Women supporters, friends and contacts,
With the end of the academic year drawing near we would like to update you about all the ROSANNA Fund has achieved this year and about our plans for the near future.
Grant award ceremony 2019
On March 8 2019 the third edition of the ROSANNA Fund for Women award ceremony took place as part of Utrecht University’s celebration of International Women’s Day. This year the fund was able to give out grants to four talented and ambitious students and employees of Utrecht University: Huda Al Baker, Christina Verbruggen, Dalal Ghanim and Annemiek Prins. The award ceremony was preceded by a lecture on the meaning of March 8 by social historian prof. dr. Berteke Waaldijk and a round-table interview with previous ROSANNA grant winners.
Watch a short video report or the full recording of the event on our website or visit our Facebook page for more photos. Do you prefer to read? Pandora, the magazine of Utrecht University’s women’s network has published an article (in Dutch) about the award ceremony.
New round of applications
The next round of applications for a ROSANNA grant is open as of now. The deadline for applying is December 1, 2019. Read more about the eligibility requirements and application procedure here.
We again expect many outstanding applications, as the need for financial support among Utrecht University’s talented women students and employees remains high. This year the ROSANNA Fund is helping pay tuition and travel costs and is enabling grant winners to do an unpaid internship and finish their dissertation. As the number of ROSANNA grant winners keeps growing, a ROSANNA alumni society is slowly starting to take shape. We hope to add to their number in 2020.
Become a member of Utrecht 1636
You can help us give out grants in years to come by donating. This year Utrecht’s University Fund established a new way to contribute to the ROSANNA Fund: Utrecht 1636. Members of the Utrecht 1636 community support the general objectives of the Utrecht University Fund and/or one of its registered funds, such as the ROSANNA Fund, for a longer period of time. Find out more about Utrecht 1636 here. Regular contributions are of course still more than welcome.
Save the date
Preparations for the 2020 grant award ceremony are underway. We cannot give any details away yet, but it promises to be an inspiring and festive event. International Women’s Day falls on a Sunday in 2020 so please save March 6 instead of March 8.
Best regards,
Rosi Braidotti and Anneke Smelik
